Italian linen from the family weaving mill
A treasure from southern Italy
Sometimes chance leads you to the most beautiful discoveries. On a trip through the sun-kissed hills of southern Italy, I came across a small weaving mill that has been hidden like a well-kept secret among olive groves for 53 years. Here, where time seems to pass differently, fabrics are made for the great Italian fashion houses – and with a perfection that only generations of craftsmanship can produce.
The 84-year-old founder is still in his workshop every day. His hands know every thread, his eyes check every selvedge. Here, not only is fabric woven – the yarn is still spun by hand. This rare perfection of fabric production makes every meter something special.
Linen as it should be
This linen fabric carries within it what true Italian craftsmanship is all about: the natural coolness that becomes a blessing on hot summer days, and a softness that comes from the additional washing process. It breathes with your skin and becomes smoother with every wash – like good friendships that only grow more precious over time.
Corda
Corda is a fine, unbleached beige with a very slight gray tint – like a piece of linen that could already tell stories. Unpretentious, calm, and wonderfully grounded. No yellow, no pink, no drama – just an honest natural tone that fits in everywhere without being boring.
Ideal as a neutral background when you want to highlight prints, quilt blocks, or patchwork elements. Corda has a handcrafted, almost primitive feel – making it especially suitable for projects with a Scandinavian, modern, or minimalist look.
Color-wise, Corda can be combined with almost anything: soft pastels like Dusty Pink, strong accents like Rust or Olive, but also with blues or black for more contrast. A real chameleon – just charming.
The special generosity – and why the price surprises
What initially surprises you quickly turns out to be a gift: with its 3 meters width, this fabric brings wonderful generosity. Where other fabrics reach their limits, it opens new possibilities for you. A summer quilt without disturbing seams, bed linen made in one piece, or flowing dresses that seem cast from a single piece – the unusual width makes many things possible that would otherwise only be achievable with compromises.
The price may seem high at first glance – but that's due to the double width. While standard linen is usually 1.40-1.50m wide, here you get double in one piece. Calculate it: per square meter you actually pay less than the first impression suggests. And you save the effort of joining multiple lengths – time, seams, and often also waste.

The true value of European craftsmanship
Yes, this fabric costs more than mass-produced goods from the Far East. But every euro contains the passion of a family that has perfected its craft for over five decades. It contains the certainty that European traditions are preserved. And it contains the quality you can feel, see, and that lasts for years.
If we don't support such manufacturers, they quietly disappear – along with a piece of culture that cannot be rebuilt.
