Essex Yarn Dyed Malibu by Robert Kaufman is a high-quality cotton-linen blend fabric made from 45% cotton and 55% linen. The special yarn-dyed technique—where the yarn is dyed before weaving—creates a vibrant, natural-looking melange in a warm blue shade called Malibu. The result is a fabric with true depth and character.
You can use it to sew airy summer blouses, casual shirts and skirts, as well as pillowcases, table runners, or bags, which immediately look high-quality due to the linen look. The fabric is also excellently suited for quilts and patchwork projects—the melange coloring harmonizes wonderfully with solid and patterned fabrics.
The fabric feels pleasantly textured, as is typical for linen, but is significantly softer and more supple due to the cotton content. It has a slight natural drape, is easy to work with, and is dimensionally stable enough for precise seams—ideal if you value a beautiful result.
