Essex Homespun Chambray by Robert Kaufman is a linen-cotton blend fabric with a slightly rustic, woven texture and a yarn-dyed chambray look. The homespun weave makes the fabric more vibrant than plain canvas and gives it a casual, natural look – perfect for modern basics and timeless projects.
With 55% linen and 45% cotton, Essex Homespun combines the breathability and character of linen with the softness and everyday usability of cotton. It is ideal for clothing (e.g., shirts, blouses, dresses, skirts, light trousers), patchwork, quilts, cushion covers, table runners, curtains, as well as bags and accessories with a natural look.
The fabric is approx. 112 cm wide and weighs around 175 g/m² – making it a pleasant, medium-weight fabric: enough substance for structured pieces, but light enough for garments with a good drape. The chambray-colored mélange in blue/denim look can be perfectly combined with solids, prints, and other natural fabrics.
Essex Homespun Chambray is suitable for both beginner and advanced sewers and can be easily worked with a universal needle size 80/90. Due to the linen content, the fabric may become softer after washing and develop an even more casual feel – ideal for "washed linen" looks.
