Robert Kaufman's Essex Yarn Dyed Acorn is a high-quality linen blend made from 55% linen and 45% cotton, immediately catching the eye with its warm orange-brown hue. The Acorn color is not created by printing, but by weaving brown and apricot-colored yarns – this results in a vibrant, natural melange effect that no digital print can imitate. With its medium to heavy weight, it's a true all-rounder for projects that need substance.
You can use it to sew sturdy bags, charming stuffed animals and dolls, garments with a beautiful drape like shirts or skirts, quilts with texture, or light upholstery projects for pillows and small furniture pieces. The fabric looks great wherever durability and a natural appearance are important.
The Acorn feels firm and even – the weave is dense and gives the fabric pleasant stability without appearing stiff. The linen component provides a slightly structured, cool feel, while the cotton makes it supple and easy to handle. It cuts cleanly, lies still under the sewing machine foot, and is forgiving of some beginner mistakes.
