Robert Kaufman's Brussels Washer Yarn Dye (Art. B142-1067) in Chambray is a soft, flowing linen-viscose blend with the typical "washed" feel of this series – pleasantly supple, with a gentle drape instead of a stiff body. Because the fabric is yarn-dyed, it creates this fine, iridescent chambray look: light and dark threads are interwoven, giving the surface a lively, subtly mottled depth – similar to a light denim blue, but softer and significantly airier.
Thanks to its beautiful drape, this fabric is especially ideal for clothing: skirts, dresses, wide trousers and culottes, blouses, tunics, jumpsuits, or light summer jackets. It's also wonderfully suited for children's clothing, smocks and aprons, or loosely flowing accessories like scarves and shawls. And because linen blends are so charmingly vibrant, you can also use it for soft home decor – such as airy curtains, napkins, or pillowcases with a natural, relaxed look.
The blend of 55% linen and 45% viscose combines the best of both worlds: linen provides the natural, breathable structure, while viscose ensures the soft feel and flowing drape. At approximately 203 g/m² (6 oz/sq yd), the fabric is medium weight yet supple. Because yarn-dyed linen-viscose blends tend to be somewhat flexible, a non-slip surface helps when cutting; it is best sewn with a fine universal or denim needle (size 70–80).
