Do you know that feeling – you touch a fabric and immediately know: This is something very special?
That's exactly how Tana Lawn™ from Liberty London feels – a fabric so fine and noble that you almost forget it's made of 100% cotton. And no, this is not a marketing gimmick, but real textile magic with history: Named after Ethiopia's Lake Tana, this fabric has been made since the 1930s from especially long-staple cotton fibers – for a finish that almost resembles silk.
Tana Lawn™ is the result of over a hundred years of innovation and true textile passion. The fabric is produced in Liberty’s in-house printing factory in Northern Italy – with a tailored process designed for the highest color brilliance, unique print quality, and a silky, flowing feel. The result: a modern classic that not only looks dreamy but is also machine washable and robust enough for everyday use.
Why do we love Tana Lawn™ so much? Because it can do everything:
-
Composition: 100% cotton (but you’ll swear it’s silk!)
-
Width: 1.36 m (finished) / 1.33 m (usable)
-
Weight: 76 g/m² – ultra-light without being flimsy
-
Care: Washable at 40°C – no drama when washing. Just don’t put it in the dryer.
What can you sew from it? Almost anything – and everything becomes special:
-
Fashion: Blouses, shirts, summer dresses, or pajamas with that certain wow effect
-
Accessories: Scrunchies, neckerchiefs, headbands, small bags – everything that should be pretty and fine
-
Home decor: Cushion covers, table runners, even bedding for the luxury version
Say hello to "Michelle". This classic Liberty pattern delights with a fine sea of blossoms featuring hydrangeas, cherry blossoms, and fantasy flowers. Especially in this version, "Michelle" appears in a fresh color palette: delicate mint, cool blue, soft lilac, and a touch of sunny yellow dance on creamy white. This creates a wonderfully light, almost watercolor-like impression – perfect for spring projects, airy children's clothing, or bright accents in your quilt. Those who love floral fabrics but prefer them not too "loud" will be absolutely happy with Michelle.
